BIO

Harpist HEE JIN YOON is very active as a soloist, orchestra musician, chamber musician and teacher in Los Angeles & Orange County, California. She is co-founder of Flute and Harp Duo, Dolce. and plays many chamber concerts and coaches young students. Recently, she has formed the Duo Gliss harp duo which focuses on expanding harp duo music. She has performed at Redlands, CA for the American Harp Society Conference 2018 and Logan, Utah for the American Harp Society Summer Institute 2015.

Ms. Yoon was the principal harpist of the Lancaster Festival Orchestra from 2008 to 2015 and has played in the Cincinnati Ballet Orchestra, Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra and Kentucky Symphony Orchestra. Recently, she has played with many other orchestras in California. She can be heard on the orchestra CD of Lancaster Festival Orchestra “Ragomania- music of William Bolcom, Clare Fischer”

Yoon was born in Boston,Massachusetts, grew up in Seoul, Korea and received a Bachelor’s degree from the Seoul National University in harp performance. She came back to United States in 2004 and earned a Master of Music degree in 2006 from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music as a student of Gillian Benet Sella of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She also received a Performer Diploma from the Indiana University with the distinguished Professor, Susann McDonald. Currently, she is a doctoral candidate in harp performance at University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. She won Concerto Competition at University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in 2012. She received Honorable mention in the Victor Salvi Awards in 2007 and 3rd prize in the Busan MBC Broadcast Competition. In 2006, she was the finalist of the American Harp Society Anne Adams Harp Competition. As a soloist, she has performed Debussy’s Danse sacrée et profane with Lancaster Festival Orchestra, Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp in C Major, K. 299 with CCM Philharmonic Orchestra, Handel’s Concerto Op.4 No.6 with the Korean Symphony Orchestra, Ravel’s Introduction and Allegro and Lutoslawski’s Concerto for Oboe and Harp with the CCM Concert Chamber Orchestra.

Hee Jin has passion for teaching and educational outreach program. She maintains her private teaching studio since 2007 and she was on harp instructor at God’s Bible College in Cincinnati from 2009-2012. In 2012, she moved to Los Angeles, CA with her husband and two dachshunds. She continues her career as a harpist to share her music with colleagues, audiences, composers and students.
