BIO
GENEVIEVE VINCENT is a composer of film music, concert music, and a music producer who is known for her melodic writing and nuanced production. Born in Vancouver, BC, based in Los Angeles, Ms. Vincent studied the Suzuki violin method and was a student of The Royal Conservatory of Music in Vancouver. She went on to attend Berklee College of Music where she graduated with a dual major in Film Scoring and Composition and studied privately under lauded concert music Composer Alla Elena Cohen. Genevieve was one of only eight composers selected to participate in the 2018 BMI conducting workshop, taught by Grammy-winning composer-conductor Lucas Richman. She is also an alumnus of The Echo Society.
Genevieve's recent projects include Moving Art "Hokkaido" for Netflix for which she wrote a Japanese inspired orchestral hybrid score, "Now Is The Time" a National Film Board of Canada documentary which premiered at The Toronto International Film Festival in 2019, screened at The Sundance Film Festival in 2020 and is currently being featured by The New York Times online. Genevieve is currently completing the score to the romantic comedy The Broken Heart Gallery starring Dacre Montgomery and Geraldine Viswanathan, directed by Natalie Krinsky. She currently scores "Fantasy Island" on Fox.
Vincent comprises half of the electronic-pop duo darkDARK, which is signed to the Nettwerk records. darkDARK's debut EP "Heathered" has been featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered, Noisey, and Consequence of Sound, among other notable outlets.The duo has also co-written with Interscope artist J.I.D. and had that song synched several times including a promo for the 2018 season of Fox’s hit series ‘Empire’, as well as the trailer for 20th Century FOX film ‘The Hate U Give’. In addition, the duo teamed up with Mau5trap artist HEYZ to create Ride Recordings release “Daylight ft.darkDARK” and Mau5trap Recordings release "Schedule 4" for which Vincent provided topline and vocals. The duo have release plans through Nettwerk for a full length album in 2020. Genevieve spent the past two seasons scoring Fox's "Fantasy Island".
Vincent’s concert music has been performed by The Sonic Open Orchestra, The Echo Society, The Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, La Société de Concerts de Montréal, Local Opera Local Artists, The Music By Women Festival, Sigma Alpha Iota, The Kalistos String Orchestra, the Esterhazy String Quartet, The Instrumental Wind Ensemble of Argentina’s National University of Villa María (UNVM), and as part of The Elements Concert Series.
